Come on in, the water's lovely....
Chagford Swimming Pool is a beautiful open air, river fed public pool, set on the banks of the Teign.
The very soft river water is UV treated and filtered with a minimal amount of chlorine to keep it sparkling, healthy and safe. The pool is now heated with air source heat pumps supplemented by PV solar panels. Solar covers are rolled out each evening to maintain the temperature. We aim to maintain the temperature in the lower twenties in good weather and boost it when the weather is poor.
There is also a very popular toddler pool for under fives complete with toy boats, watering cans, and ducks.
At the deep end there is a grassy area for sunbathing and there are chairs and tables at the shallow end, with parasols. Wooden decking flanks each side of the pool.
With refreshments available from the tea shed, it's a lovely place to spend a summer afternoon.
The pool depth increases from just under a metre in the shallow end to just over 2 metres at it's deepest. Safety is paramount here, and we like to keep non swimming children away from the deep water, so we ask you to keep your small people on the shallow side of our blue line, both in and out of the water.
Whilst changing our Ansaphone message on 12th September, some 37 new messages somehow came into view and disappeared again after we had had time to check out only one.....Our sincere apologies to anyone who has left a query on our landline this summer, only to find that we did not get back to you :-)
